I had a different experience of CBT which was that in order to say anything at all i had to justify what i was saying in terms that the therapist would understand or recognise, which made it impossible to talk about what was really happening which was verbal harassment and mistreatment from other people.
That's how I ended up feeling about it anyway, like it turned into a battle to get the therapist to actually believe me about anything, like it never got to a point where he would actually believe me and I could talk about the things that were happening in my life.
The thing that did help a bit was the sessions of art therapy from an NHS therapist, but the second time I had this it was limited to ten sessions which wasn't enough to make a difference.
